King's Quest Games
63Overview
Possibly one of the most intense games ever to be played with a five and a quarter inch floppy disk, Kings Quest is yet another legacy brought out by the same folks who run Blizzard Entertainment, Vivendi.
In this game, you are taken through epic stories spanning different worlds and landscapes. The main character's name is King Graham, and he is a former knight who went on a quest to become King. Obviously having succeeded, he married a beautiful queen and proceeded to have two children, Alexander and Rosella.
King's Quest paved the way for the future of 3d games, even though the first game started in an endless loop no matter where you tried to take the character.
In 2006 a compilation was released which bridged the gap between the computers and formats of old, and the CD era we live in today. The series in it's current form spanned 14 years of hard work and labor to bring us a delightfully cheeky game where the motto is: "Take anything that's not nailed down."
How to play
The main object of the game is to solve various quests and puzzles presented to the character. To solve these puzzles, certain items are required, items you may not have thought to grab unless you follow the King's Motto.
So, as you move through various scenes and landscapes, take everything! Don't worry, you've got the inventory space.
Movement is pretty basic, and you have the option of moving north, west, east or south. Beware, most of the series causes a loop, which is explained as being magical in nature, keeping your character in the region by mysterious magical means.
Cheeky fun!
This game series is full of references to mythological creatures, trademarked names and the like. In true Vivendi fashion, King's Quest is addictive, hours of fun, and another game series you just cannot miss.
