Kamelot

I was the liar in every debate.. I rule the forces that fuel your hate..
When you hear the voice of the Norwegian singer Khan, you'll wonder just where this lyrical assault on your ears is going to lead. With emotionally thrilling songs and masterful instrumental accompaniment, Kamelot is one of my personal favorite power metal bands, ranking right up with Dragonforce.
Notable members include:
- Roy Khan - Vocalist. Khan has a powerful voice and a great stage presence, lending a deep emotional quality to the music.
- Thomas Youngblood - Guitarist. Thomas is one of the founding members of the band, and an awesome guitarist to boot.
- Glenn Barry - Bassist. Glenn replaced Sean Christians in the early years and is the only member of the band who appears on all of Kamelot's albums besides Thomas.
- Casey Grillo - Drummer. Casey joined the band when Khan came on board as vocalist, and brings rhythmic superiority to the table.
- Oliver Palotai - Keyboard. Oliver provides the haunting, fierce melody to this ensemble. Oliver joined the band in 2005, and is engaged to Simone Simons of Epica.
In 2010, Kamelot was slated to tour the United States and Canada, and cancelled their tour due to Roy Khan's illness. By late April, 2011, Khan had released a statement regarding his leaving Kamelot, and the band released a statement on April 22, 2011 announcing the same, with the band's respect.

In 1995, the album "Eternity" was released, featuring songs such as "Proud Nomad" and "The Gleeman." This was Kamelot's debut album, and Mark Vanderbuilt was the lead vocals for the band at this time, along with founding drummer Richard Warner, both of whom would leave the band after the second album.
Kamelot's second album, "Dominion", was released in 1997, and featured their first instrumental track - "Creation."
The third album Kamelot recorded in the studio would see a replacement in the lead vocals and drums positions, with the change to Roy Khan as vocalist and Casey Grillo on drums. "Siége Perilous" (a reference to Arthurian legend) featured the songs "Where I Reign" and the instrumental track "Siege" as the album ending. Siége Perilous was released in 1998.
Aptly named "The Fourth Legacy," Kamelot's fourth album, released in 1999, this album took a Scheherezade theme. Songs featured flute and percussion by Simon McTavish and Farouk Asjadi. This album featured tracks such as "The Inquisitor" and two instrumental tracks - "New Allegiance" and "Desert Reign."
Album five for Kamelot was released in 2001, titled "Karma." This album is a highly popular album among Kamelot fans (including Gamergirl) and features a dedication song to Thomas Youngblood Sr. - "Don't you Cry." Other songs featured on this album include a three song set about Elizabeth Bathory, and the instrumental track "Regalis Apertura."
In 2003, Kamelot released "Epica", inspiring the creation of a band by the same name. "Epica" is the first of two concept albums that delve into a Faustian interpretation and an exploration of darker soulful themes with songs such as "Center of the Universe" and "Farewell."

I am so behind the times. None of my kids really listen to this type of music. Although if I were their age, this would be the stuff I would be into. Cool song and video!
Darn, I really wanted to hear them. I only have dial-up (live out in the country) and it wouldn't play for me.
Liked the video too - thanks for this hub !
Thanks for this hub.I like Kamelot
The music video was amusing. I've never seen power metal musicians use corpsepaint.
